Abstract: Agricultural livelihoods in West African smallholder farms are undermined by the continuous degradation of soil resources. Most smallholder farms are unable to replenish soil nutrients from the use of mineral nutrients due to poverty and inefficient agricultural policy intervention. The situation is expected to worsen under increasing climate change effects on soil nutrients cycles if no affordable options are promoted.
