Abstract: his brief highlights the current trend of increasing electricity generation from fossil-based thermal production in Ghana. A review of the need to change this trend with solar and wind energy as options was made. For planning purposes, the temporal variabilities of both solar and wind energies were previewed and challenges for their massive implementation have also been discussed. Finally, recommendations were given for policy makers to consider during large-scale development of solar and wind energy
